So now I have full res access anywhere! And I can use all the software programs with full res access. Once I was done I just deleted the old ones from the raid. This way when you reimport those images to CC, It adds a that new copy to the extra backup drive. As far as your existing catalog in Classic, you need to make sure every file you have is in a synced collection. This leaves me with two local copies, as I like, and a cloud copy. So I open classic, it syncs with CC, and downloads a copy to the second external. To be safe I always have my local storage, and additional drive with a copy. Now within Classic, I have the preferences setup to store local synced files to an additional external drive. So that takes care of my cloud copy for full res access anywhere, and my local copy. This puts them in the cloud, and I also have it set to store a copy locally on my main RAID drive (where my classic catalog stores the files as well, so there is two copies temporarily). So with new files I import them to CC not Classic. First of all you will of course need adobes cloud storage big enough to store your whole catalog, which in my case is 3tb. So here's the plan I came up with and how I pulled it off. and there are a few aspects of Classic I like, such as printing (I own a printing company so it can be pretty useful). But I missed not having full res access, especially after photoshop for iPad came out. I used to use Classic and sync collections to edit in mobile. So it seemed like maybe I should be using CC, but for a long time the features just weren't there. Not sure why.Īt the same time I have really grown to enjoy using Lightroom mobile and editing on my iPad Pro. When I first upgraded to my 2019 iMac things seemed to move swiftly, but within a few months everything seemed to be slowing down again. I have always been disappointed by the performance of Lightroom Classic on a Mac. I absolutely love it so I wanted to share my experience with anyone else on the fence. I had been on fence with this decision for a long time, and I ended up pulling the trigger. Please direct non-lightroom topics to the most appropriate of the following!
